How to Clean a Beautyblender

How to Clean a Beautyblender

Let's be honest: when it comes to makeup, brushes, sponges, and other beauty tools, we could all level up our cleaning game. Unfortunately, it can be challenging to find the time, motivation, or even proper techniques. Makeup artists have the advantage here, as keeping the tools of their trade squeaky clean for clients is a must for their business. However, when it comes to our personal products, which often seem safely hidden away in the bathroom, it can be tempting to put off this important step for all beauty routines.

With the ever growing popularity of the Beautyblender in mind, we decided to take the guesswork out of makeup sponge sanitation for you with a quick how-to. We asked our friend, Elley (@beauty_by_elley), to give our readers a run through. Elley is a makeup enthusiast and uses these tools on herself. With her simple words of wisdom, you can finally banish those pesky excuses and give your blender the cleaning it deserves.

Elley: As much as I adore my beautyblenders, I hate cleaning them. Most of the products I've tried just weren't as thorough as I would have liked. I prefer the Beauty Blender Pro Pac from Frends because the Solid Cleanser is included with your purchase. It's a good buy. I really recommend this particular cleanser because it's formulated to work specifically for the beautyblenders, and it won't dry them out as much as other cleaning supplies like shampoos and such. If they dry out too much they tend to break.

Here are my steps to cleaning these babies:

  1. Put the blenders into a bowl or container with some warm water and let them absorb it.
  2. Squeeze the water out, leaving them damp enough to glide over the cleanser.
  3. Swirl them into the cleanser and smother them with the cleanser goodness.
  4. Sometimes I roll them on my Sigma Beauty Spa Mat or just roll them between my hands squeezing often to get rid of all the buildup.
  5. Once I'm content with how they look, I rinse, squeeze and lay the blenders to rest. (Don't forget to close your cleanser!)

That's it, folks! It really is such a simple task to be dreaded by so many.
