You'd be hard-pressed to find any makeup professional who doesn't live for Halloween. It's basically Christmas for those of us who adore false eyelashes, special effects products and over-the-top makeup looks.
Use Halloween as an excuse to invest in those dramatic and outrageous products that you've always wanted but felt guilty about buying. To make it a little easier on your wallet, here are our favorite Halloween products that are also friendly to your wallet.
Ben Nye Eyebrow Pencil
The fastest way to completely change your face is by changing your eyebrows. When you're trying to do a Halloween look, your regular taupe brow powder isn't going to cut it. Instead, get your hands on one of these amazing pencils from Ben Nye. They're subtle enough to create a realistic look, but pigmented enough to really alter the look of your brows. And yes, you can get use out of them long after Halloween has ended.
Jerome Russell B Wild
We'll admit that not all of us here at the Frends Beauty office were bold enough to jump on the wild hair trend. While we think pinks and blues look awesome on other people, a few of us were a bit too timid to make that leap. That's why we're obsessed with this inexpensive but insanely pigmented colored hairspray. It gives us bold color for the night, but washes down the drain easily with no staining.
Mehron Mixing Liquid
This is one of our favorite items of Halloween makeup, but it's also just one of our favorite products period. So what is it? Hard to pinpoint. This all-purpose liquid lets us turn eye shadows into liners and turn loose pigments into lip stains. It's basically a magic potion that lets us convert powder to liquid, making us feel like total smarty-pants chemists right from the comfort of our vanities.
Stilazzi Borderline Gel Intense Eyeliner
A subtle powder or stick eyeliner look simply won't do for Halloween. We want drama. This gorgeous gel eyeliner from Stilazzi gives us the intensity we want, ensuring that our cat eyes will pop even against the most dramatic eye looks. It glides onto the skin beautifully without tugging and makes for a great addition to your makeup arsenal.
Ben Nye Lustrous Lipstick in Red Coat
We're obsessed with this pigmented true red. Whether you're going as a sexy vampire or Taylor Swift, this luscious red is suitable for just about all skin tones. Not only is it gorgeous, but it's totally long-lasting and won't smudge.
Mehron Metallic Powder in Gold
Sometimes we just want to feel like we're drenched in liquid gold, okay? Although this product is a highly pigmented powder and not a liquid, it wears like a dewy finish of melted gold. Mix into foundation to make yourself look like you're literally glowing or press onto the eyelids with a flat brush to create a traffic-stopping eye look. Our favorite year-round hack to give our skin that lit-from-within glow that we all covet is to mix a few pinches into our favorite lotion and apply from head-to-toe.
Glass Shards
No, you probably won't get a lot of practical, year-round use out of this one. However, we just utterly adore these glass shards, which can mimic glass or ice. We think that they would make for an amazing foundation to a whole host of wild, special effects looks. Don't worry about them being too abrasive or harsh, either. Although they totally look like the real deal, they're actually very soft, smooth and yielding.
AJ Crimson Lipstick in Round Two
Purple is one of those colors that magazine editors love to tell us we can pull off on our lips, but once applied, they can often feel a little garish. However, concerns like that fly out the window on Halloween. We're in love with this rich, gorgeous purple. If you want to try to get some year-round use out of it, try applying just a little bit onto your lips with your finger. When applied sparingly, this lipstick provides a subtle purple stain.
The Balm Cindy Lou Manizer
If there's ever a time for your highlighter to pop, it's definitely Halloween. When we apply highlighter to finish off a Halloween look, we want to glow. This pressed powder highlighter has that liquid finish that we all love and want. Layer it on for a more intense look or apply sparingly for a touch of highlight that only shows up in the light.
Velour Mink Lashes
We know what you're thinking, "$29 for a pair of falsies is hardly budget-friendly!" But the thing is that they actually are. When you buy drugstore lashes, you'll typically spend about $5 for a pair of lashes that will have to be thrown out at the end of the night. With the Velour Mink lashes, however, you're sure to get multiple wears and uses. We're not saying that "they pay for themselves," but you'll definitely get a lot of bang for your buck. Not only are these lashes gorgeous, but when cared for properly, they truly stand the test of time.
Mehron Liquid Body Makeup Glow
Mehron kills it when it comes to helping us to get glowing skin. This stunning liquid body makeup can be applied with a mixing agent for a subtle shimmer or applied sparingly for a seriously glowing look. We also love that it wears beautifully and doesn't rub off on our clothes.
